Yunjin Fashion Show at Expo Milan 2015

As the closing event of Expo Milan 2015's Nanjing Week, a Yunjin (brocade) fashion show by Chinese designer Laurence Xu was presented in Milan on Monday (July 13) with thirty-seven suits of haute couture made from Yunjin, a traditional Chinese silk brocade made in Nanjing, which was inscribed on UNESCO'S List Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2009. Nanjing Yunjin brocade was produced only for the royal family. It was not until the late Qing dynasty that the development of Nanjing cloud-pattern brocade entered its period of full bloom; then the products were sold to the common citizens. Nanjing Yunjing brocade is famous for its exquisite technology, elegant patterns and smooth texture. The patterns are various and as beautiful as the cloud in the sky; therefore its name “Yunjin” comes. [Wikipedia]
