Xi'an - Ancient Capital

Xi'an was once one of the greatest capitals in the ancient world, on a par with Athens and Rome. The famous Silk Road started from it and extended to Rome. Two thousand years ago the first emperor of China Qin Shiguang established his great empire after defeating five other states, and built the Great Wall to prevent the invasion of north nomadic Huns. For more than two millennia, the Terracotta Army has loyally guarded his grand Mausoleum. In Today's Xian, there are many historic sites and relics that echo its glorious past.
