The 17th China Fashion Week

Fashion aficionados are gathering in Beijing as the 17th China Fashion Week kicks off on Oct. 26, 2014. In total, there will be 66 shows, a record high for the event, making it the largest fashion week in the Asia-Pacific area. The fashion week is a great platform for Chinese designers, but also invites international designers to join.

China Fashion Week runs until November 2. There are 88 brands and institutions from home and abroad participating in the week. Eighty-three domestic and overseas designers will launch 63 collections, and about 110 promising designers will take part in three professional contests.

The opening show featured event regular NE TIGER's haute couture collection. The show hinted at traditional Chinese fashion. The designer said the collection is inspired by the styles of the Ming dynasty, some 600 years ago. The collection mainly features women's formal attire. And there was also a series of wedding dresses showcased on the runway.
