Rays Lamps from Marta Bakowski

French artist Marta Bakowski’s designs are a celebration of colours and materials, two predominating elements which are often the starting point of her projects. Her objects follow simple & graphical shapes with an Elementary functionality, thus leaving room for tactility & expressive qualities while encouraging imagination, interpretation and appropriation.

Rays is a reflection on the evocation of light and the ability of colours & materials to render radiance and brightness according to the surrounding light environment.  The handmade weaving of the lamp took form through many prototypes made by daylight, thus allowing a precise choice of coloured threads creating a vibrating pointillist effect when interlocking. The collection is an interaction of graphical lines and layered materials with fresh and surprising shades, creating a radiant effect and changing aspect whenever the light is on or off.
