Pierre Lassonde

Pierre Lassonde (born in Quebec, Canada, 1947) is a Canadian businessman and philanthropist. Chairman of the Board of Directors of Franco-Nevada Corporation, he also serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec (MNBAQ) since 2005. He studied at the École Polytechnique de Montreal in 1971 and obtained his degree in electrical engineering. He continued his studies by obtaining an MBA (Masters in Business Administration) in 1973 at the University of Utah. In 1982, he founded the Franco-Nevada Corporation which later became a world leader in gold sector. 

Residing in Toronto , Pierre Lassonde is a recognized philanthropist in Canada and the United States in education, arts and communities. Universities that benefit from his donations include the University of Toronto, the École Polytechnique, the University of Western Ontario, York University, the University of Utah etc.
